Shaping the future of Pembrokeshire's tourism

The Visit Pembrokeshire Tourism Summit returns on Wednesday 2nd April 2025. This not-to-be-missed inclusive event is open to everyone involved in Pembrokeshire's tourism industry. Whether you’re an entrepreneur, manager, marketer or stakeholder in Pembrokeshire's tourism industry, this event features key industry speakers focusing on tourism trends, keeping competitive as a destination and celebrating our rich and vibrant culture.

Surrounding the Tourism Summit's theme of ‘Local distinctiveness is the new competitive advantage', the event celebrates local uniqueness, discusses how to remain competitive and embrace Welshness for a stronger more sustainable future.

Destination Strategy and Industry Trends

This event offers an opportunity to learn from some of the most respected voices in the tourism sector. Speakers include:

1. KEYNOTE SPEAKER Mari Stevens, Anian Ltd
‘Inspiring landscapes; Pembrokeshire as a leading future destination’.

Mari was the Director of Marketing for Wales – Tourism and Business, which includes leading all aspects of Visit Wales marketing, from 2014-2000. During this time, she launched the Cymru Wales nation brand, winning multiple international awards, and launched the themed years approach to promoting Wales as a destination. Prior to joining Visit Wales, Mari was Head of Marketing at BBC Cymru Wales and Welsh Water.

Mari left Welsh Government to join broadband firm, Ogi – which will be familiar to many businesses in Pembrokeshire. There she established their highly-successful brand and hyper-local marketing strategy.

She now runs her own consultancy firm, Anian, which has been busy working on a Cultural Tourism Study for Powys, Destination Management Plans for Monmouthshire and Merthyr Tydfil. Her clients also include the National Library of Wales, Amgueddfa Cymru Museum Wales, and Welsh Government. Mari lives in Cardiff, is a published author of books for children, and has three sons.

2. Jo Gaukroger of, 4 Corners PR
'What the National Travel Media are looking for and how to maximise PR opportunities for your organisation'.

A travel PR specialist, Jo Gaukrodger has spent the past 25 years handling the PR for many UK tourist boards and Business Improvement Districts as well as destinations in Australia, New Zealand and the Caribbean. Her experience also covers everything from tour operators and ferry companies to hotels, restaurants, attractions, villa, holiday parks and cottage collections. With a wide gamut of media contacts, she loves nothing more than pitching client stories and experiencing the thrill of securing coverage.

3. Jon Munro, Visit Wales
'Digital Data Pilot project - giving businesses timely and relevant data that helps them remain competitive'

Jon has over 25 years marketing experience, both client and agency side, across public and private sector. His experience spans travel, tourism, leisure, charity, events, software, apparel, fashion, beauty, B2B and online retail. At Welsh Government his role covers strategy and digital leadership and he is responsible for developing clear strategies to deliver defined business objectives, building our overall digital capacity and driving digital innovation. He is passionate about supporting positive change and doing digital better.




4. Olly Reed, Managing Director of Navigate
'Navigating the New Tourism Landscape'

Olly will explore how the tourism industry is evolving and what businesses must do to stay ahead. With insights, ideas and innovation strategies to help organisations adapt, stand out, and thrive in an increasingly competitive landscape.

Over the last fifteen years, Olly has built vast experience in tourism, conservation, and culture brands from startups, in-house teams, and now at Navigate. Olly is a leading digital strategist, focusing on solidifying commercial evolution while expanding Navigate's impact in the industry.

5. Chris Ebsworth, Director of Folly Farm Adventure Park & Zoo

From humble beginnings to the multi-faceted 120-acre attraction you see today; Folly Farm is a top day out! Chris Ebsworth, Director of Folly Farm will discuss the attractions journey from the 'hay bale jump' and 'Majorie the cow', to the multi award-winning iconic Pembrokeshire attraction that benefits our county today, and their plans for the future.

6. Angharad Wynne, BA, MA.
Sense of place and value of Welshness

Angharad Wynne is a communications and marketing specialist with over 25 years of experience in the field, working within Wales, the UK, Ireland and the US. Having worked on some of the UK’s most exciting cultural projects, including the foundation of the National Botanic Garden of Wales, London’s Millennium Celebrations and the development and opening of Wales Millennium Centre, Angharad set up her own consultancy in 2005 to improve the marketing and communications of Wales and UK assets. This included the development of the Sense of Place programme for the Welsh Government. The consultancy has also worked on a number of delivery projects in the field including the development of toolkits, interpretation plans, signage strategies, communications strategies, websites, copywriting and branding, trails and place ambassador projects.
The consultancy continues to drive forward and collaborate on place projects to stimulate regeneration and renewal. This includes sense of place and branding development, interpretation of cultural assets, signage strategy and in-depth work with communities. Such projects have ranged from place-making in Dún Laoghaire in Ireland to the award-winning rebranding of South Downs National Park.
