The Lovespoon Workshop

Situated near Tenby in Pembrokeshire, The Lovespoon Workshop is run by us and continues the ancient Welsh tradition of carving lovespoons.

About The Lovespoon Workshop

It was back in 1969 that Thomas The Woodcarver made his first ever lovespoon in an attempt to 'save himself having to buy an engagement ring'. He used this lovespoon to propose and from that year on decided to carve a lovespoon for every year that he was married - something which is still going strong (both the marriage and creating a lovespoon each year). Throughout the years the lovespoons have taken many forms and have acted as a diary recording events both personal to the family as well as national events and those from around the world. Each lovespoon holds its own message and theme.

Our workshop began life in 1973 and is situated near the beautiful coastal resort of Tenby. The Lovespoon Workshop has been open to the public since 1975. Initially the workshop was a room at the end of our house. Over the years we have expanded and developed our business - from the ideas in the messages in our lovespoons through to the construction of each and every lovespoon that we make, we are proud to exist as a family run business.

Today our workshop consists of a machine room, a timber store, a gallery, a presentation room and a shop. Visitors are invited to view the lovespoons on show and listen to Thomas The Woodacaver talking about his collection
