Really Wild Foraging Courses

Come foraging with our knowledgeable and experienced guides in the stunningly beautiful Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. There is no better place to discover your ‘inner forager’ than along the hedgerows, ancient trackways and shoreline around St Davids. The changing seasons offer different flavours and different plants, so no forage will ever be the same. You will be inspired with a new enthusiasm on how to make the most of wild ingredients in everyday life; to get out into the countryside and become more aware of what is growing around you and what nature can provide.

The Really Wild Emporium

Come foraging with our knowledgeable and experienced guides in the stunningly beautiful Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. There is no better place to discover your ‘inner forager’ than along the hedgerows, ancient trackways and shoreline around St Davids.

The changing seasons offer different flavours and different plants, so no forage will ever be the same. You will be inspired with a new enthusiasm on how to make the most of wild ingredients in everyday life; to get out into the countryside and become more aware of what is growing around you and what nature can provide.

We will always explain the environmental and health and safety issues before we start so you can explore and enjoy the wild places in safety.

We currently run three different courses:

Beginner's Hedgerow Forage - These popular walks are a great way for the curious to discover all about foraging from the wild hedge banks. They take place every Thursday morning (at 10am) from March to October. Find out how easy it is to identify and gather hedgerow plants on a walk through the ancient lanes and hedgerows or around the Cathedral Close. Learn which plants you should try and which you should avoid…

Seashore Forage - Seaweeds and coastal plants are not only delicious but also contain a wealth of beneficial properties. They are rich in essential nutrients like vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Incorporating seaweeds into food, soap, and skincare products is believed to offer a wide range of health benefits, such as boosting the immune system, improving digestion, and promoting healthy skin. If you are gasping for a lungful of fresh, bracing sea air, desperate to get out into nature, and have the urge to experience the great outdoors, then come and have a mini adventure with us.

Family Seashore Fun - This course is orientated around fun and adventure, and is suited to foraging beginners and young explorers of all ages! Here we will look into the rock pools and discover the small wild creatures that live in them, such as shells and sea anemones, little crabs and maybe even some fish hiding between the rocks! We will discover how our wild world has been shaped by nature while we search for different seaweeds and talk about how we use them for food, health and skincare.
