Fforest is not a campsite.
Fforest is the result of a dream. The dream of trying to remember what ‘simple’ can look, feel and taste like.
This dream combines the life-enhancing feeling of living outdoors with the simplest of things all wrapped up in the luxury of a magical setting, great local food, all underpinned in an understated design ethos that finds its way into everything we do.
Part of our dream is the community of fforest; a place where old friendships flourish and new friendships are made; a place where families find time, where the kids roam free. A place where our team of upbeat people are here to make it all easy from dawn to dusk.
Nope, this is not a campsite.
This is the antidote to a busy modern world.

fforest is located near the Welsh Wildlife Centre in Cilgerran. Our address is:

Approaching from the M4 in South Wales Take the M4 to the end then continue on the A48 to Carmarthen. At Carmarthen continue West, taking the A40 for approximately 20 miles and passing through St Clears, Whitland and Llanddewi Velfrey. At the Penblewin roundabout (junction with the A478, near Narberth) take the third exit (right) towards Cardigan. Continue along the A478 for approximately 18 miles. Shortly after passing through Bridell you will arrive at Pen-Y-Bryn. Take the right turn signposted towards Cilgerran and follow the brown signs for the Wildlife Reserve and Canoe Trips. Keep following the brown signs, taking the first left after entering Cilgerran village. fforest is on the right half a mile along the Wildlife Reserve access road.
Approaching from the North via Aberystwyth
Take the A487 South from Aberystwyth to Cardigan (approximately 38 miles). At the Cardigan roundabout take the second exit (straight over) across the new bridge. At the next roundabout take the first exit and continue for approximately 1½ miles until you arrive at Pen-Y-Bryn. Take the left turn signposted towards Cilgerran and follow the brown signs for the Wildlife Reserve and Canoe Trips. Keep following the brown signs, taking the first left after entering Cilgerran village. fforest is on the right half a mile along the Wildlife Reserve access road.
Approaching from the South via Fishguard
Take the A487 North-east from Fishguard to Cardigan (approximately 20 miles). As you approach Cardigan at the roundabout take the third exit (right) towards Tenby and continue for approximately 1½ miles until you arrive at Pen-Y-Bryn. Take the left turn signposted towards Cilgerran and follow the brown signs for the Wildlife Reserve and Canoe Trips. Keep following the brown signs, taking the first left after entering Cilgerran village. fforest is on the right half a mile along the Wildlife Reserve access road.
The nearest mainline train stations are Carmarthen, an hour's drive to the south and Aberystwyth, an hour's drive to the north. There are buses to Cardigan, the nearest town to fforest, from both Carmarthen and Aberystwyth but please check current timetables. Buses run during the daytime Monday to Saturday.

The Access Statement for fforest is an honest description of the current situation, which we hope will enable potential guests to make a decision as to how we meet their needs.
- fforest camp is located in a rural area of naturally hilly terrain offering outstanding views from the higher points and shelter and privacy in the woodland glades of the lower points. This terrain does result in naturally sloping pathways in some areas of the camp, some of which are quite steep. Owing to the topography of the site, fforest cannot ensure that all pathways and access routes are navigable for ambulant or disabled visitors without assistance.
- Access to the lodge from the crog loft, dome, campshack and threepi/bell zones is down a steep hill drive with an uneven gravel surface. Access to the lodge from the group tent zone is via steps.
- The lodge building is a single storey dwelling providing level access and circulation to all areas accessible to the public. Assistance may be required to enter the lodge via the large patio doors on the terrace.
- There is a central shower and WC block near the dome and threepi / bell zones. Access to the block is via steps or a ramp.
- WC and shower facilities are available at the lodge for infirm, ambulant or disabled guests, although these facilities are not designed specifically for guests with disabilities.
- The crog lofts have private WC and shower facilities at ground floor level. The crog lofts are sited in an old converted farm building and access to the bathroom may be restrictive for wheelchair users because of the layout of the ground floor space.
- There are pathways to all tent types wide enough to accommodate a wheelchair and covered in either gravel or wood bark.
- All tents are on raised wooden decks. Ramps can be provided to a small number of tents, if required, and by prior arrangement with lodge staff.
- All tent decks, the lodge terrace and the shower / WC block have a wooden decking floor.
- All reasonable efforts have been made to minimise the impact for disabled visitors with respect to access to water and recycling points and to fire collection points.
- Open water in publicly accessible areas is not fenced off.
- fforest has ample parking for disabled guests’ vehicles in the main camp car park. There are no spaces specifically designated for disabled guests. There is an unpaved pathway of a few hundred metres from the main car park to the lodge / camping area. Parking in the camping fields adjacent to the tents is not permitted under any circumstances.
